Hi everyone,
As you can probably see from my recent posts, it’s been an incredibly busy week! I’ve been working with a partner on several new profitable blog launches, as well as helped launched a brand new blog for a client (details below), entered a blogging competition, and have been thinking very seriously about professional blog writing.
Here goes.
New Blog: Private Student Loan Marketplace
Before I was really into blogging and developing blogs, I was a business analyst and tech writer, and I worked for a company that develops automated underwriting software and other software related to student loans and mortgage underwriting. Long story short, they circled back with me recently and I have become their blog consultant. This week (yesterday, in fact) we successfully launched the Private Student Loan blog. Have a look. It’s stunning! The design was done by Modal Inc., an amazing design firm located in Virginia who I’ve had the privilege of working with before on Overture projects.
If you’re thinking about getting your corporate blog professionally designed, the above is proof positive that it’s a good decision. While I generally recommend buying a nice premium theme for solo-professionals, for small businesses and corporations who can spring for it, your best bet is to find a design company who has demonstrated experience designing for WordPress.
Blogging Competition
OK so if you don’t know already, I’ve officially entered the BIGGEST blogging competition yet, with over $3000 in prizes, and I really need your help! I’d love to win and have the money pay my way to BlogWorld in Vegas, baby! So please, if you have time, head over to my entry, The 4 Irrefutable Laws of Blog Commenting, and leave a great thought and re-tweet it. I’d sincerely appreciate it and if you enter the competition, I will happily repay the favor.
If you’re curious where the money is coming from, drop by my post about it, so you can check out the sponsors.
Professional Blog Writing: Should I do it? Should YOU do it?
So as part of the work I do for Overture, I have been doing some blog writing. I absolutely love it (ha, figures). If you had asked me to write for you two years ago, I would have emphatically declined. I hated the idea of writing for a living (again, HAHAHA). But it’s a subject I’m interested in, and so it just works. I have been experimenting with HubPages and decided that I like that even more than writing for the Examiner.
So now I am considering marketing blog writing services. Have you ever done that? What’s your experience been? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the pros and cons. I want to really think about it before I dive in, and if you have something to say about it, why not guest post here at BizChickBlogs so we can all hear your two cents?
Cheers and Happy Thursday!
Tia
