1 Week Left: Why You Should Enter the ComLuv Blogging Contest

You’ve got a week left (which is just enough time, but not too much time) to enter the FamousBloggers ComLuv contest and not only have a pretty good chance at winning some great prizes (from $750 to $100 – TWENTY prizes in all), but to do something really good for your blog.

I get questions all the time about how to engage readers and how to get comments and how to get traffic. Please listen to this carefully: you cannot blog successfully in a vacuum.

So you may not win. Heck, I don’t even think I will win! :) That’s okay. BizChickBlogs is 6 months old; I don’t expect phenomenal things right now. This isn’t about winning. It’s about connecting. It’s also about vetting your systems and seeing what works. It’s about growing, stretching, seeing who your real “blogging friends” are (I’ve learned A LOT about that now), learning how to guest post successfully, etc. These are important lessons to learn in order to take your blog to the next level, no matter which level you’re on right now.

The entries are fabulous, but they are not out of reach or soooo good that you could not meet or exceed them. You can write something about your experience with commenting, or lack of, and pull off a great victory here. You really can.

I’ve listened to your stories about how you stopped commenting and visitors dropped – that’s a GREAT storyline for a post. Or about how you found a great guest blogger through commenting – another good one. You can talk about why you don’t like commenting, if you don’t. You can talk about how your niche blog (mom blog, food blog, heck, shoe blog!) has exploded because of the commenting you are doing and are receiving: niche blogs are not prolific in the competition right now; would love to see more.

If you enter, you will have my full support!

:) I don’t have all that much pull, but I will promote your post as much as I have been promoting my own and others that I’ve liked in the competition. BizChickBlogs is a SUPPORT blog for YOU. So that’s my commitment. And if you HAVE already entered and I haven’t commented, or promoted it, it’s because I didn’t know about it. Do me and yourself a favor: leave the link here, or shoot me a tweet about it @bizchickblogs, or leave it on the BizChickBlogs Facebook wall (but be sure to tell me in another way, as I’m Facebook challenged for some reason with my page).

If you think you don’t have time…

Try this: if you’re feeling like, gee I really don’t have time for this, skip blogging on your own blog this week or next week (gasp!). Instead, send in your entry to the contest, and reap the rewards of having many new visitors come check out your blog and see what you are all about. You’ll be promoting yourself on highly visited, highly regarded blogs (ComLuv.com or FamousBloggers.net) and the organizers @GrowMap @CommentLuv and @FamousBloggers retweet contest entries all the time, so your entry will be well seen. And of course I will promote it, too.

Tips on How to Make it Awesome

  • Write a killer headline. One better than mine, lol. Looks like sweet headlines are key.
  • Bring value. Tell a story, and then offer suggestions.
  • If you’re humorous at all, be funny. Just be yourself, even if you’re not funny (I’m not funny).
  • Don’t worry about linking to other people’s entries as they will do that for you.
  • Write a great bio.
  • If you are a niche blogger, use it in your title. If you are a food blogger, for example, write about how commenting can really grow food blogs. Doing so will get you some visibility to other food blogs (and may even get you on @Sweetsfoods weekly list if your post is stellar, which will REALLY increase visits to your entry and your blog – fingers crossed).

Good luck.

it helps me building reputation reciprocal linking great post.

You said that you have only been doing this for six monther, you are doing a great job. I love the way you write. I wish I could write like you.

Hey Sarah! Thanks. I've actually been blogging for a few years; but BizChickBlogs is relatively new.

You make a lot of solid points; I'll definitely consider entering the contest. I definitely feel like I do lot of outreach to other bloggers both in and beyond my niche, though. It'd be nice to see an audience emerge that didn't give publicity for the sake of getting publicity themselves.

So did you enter, ashok?? :)

Wow, Tia, this is a really helpful article. Not only are you providing tips on writing an awesome post but also offering to support bloggers in their effort to get more traffic. I am running short of inspiration but I will try to finish an article and submit it for the contest.

By the way, I am gonna try out @anywhere on my blog too.

Tia, what is the @anything that Hesham mentioned? And where would you get one of those buttons designed - like what you have and like the CommentLuv one that's at the top of this page?

Thank you TM

You're awesome, supporting others in the contest! I can't remember if you commented, but I'm pretty sure you tweeted mine as well. I've been trying to keep up with commenting on everyone's entries - tweeting is easy since I have ComLuv & FamousBloggers setup on Twitterfeed to automatically tweet new posts. Good luck to you! You have a great post and I'm sure it will do well!

Oooh, good idea. That's a really great way to get tweets out of the new posts. I think I'll do that. I have Kikolani set up to automatically tweet new posts w/HootSuite. I love it!

Nice :)

I love the @Anywhere thing, it makes me follow people who comment on my blog much more faster and easier without having to go out of my blog :)

I luv it. I don't know why. I think I just like how the little box pops up, and it IS super cool that you can follow someone right there w/o having to go anywhere!

Now if only Twitter would provide stats for this kind of thing! We could see where our new followers were really coming from!

Hey, Ms BizChick, I stopped blog commenting and my blog visitor numbers have risen! So how's that then....?

Great post as always Tia, and can't agree more with what Gail said!

Full of insight and inspiration and I totally agree about the "just taking part". If you "take part" in whatever it is to get your blog exposure to others who spend time online, even if you don't win the actual competition - in your case anyhow, with regards the CommentLuv comp - you are winning something else. And that is getting your blog noticed by hundreds or even thousands of other folks who are dead keen on reading the info you provide on a very regular basis.

Congrats on your new Alexa ranking by the way - for a 6 month old blog its quite amazing to be ranked at a mere 184k! You are a great example to us all!

Talk soon, BizChick!

I can't enter this time, but I see and I learnt a lot for several of the participants, is a great contest with some many useful ideas.

Really an honor to be mentioned on your post, thanks so much and the best of the luck, all are winners in some way!

Cheers,

Gera

Hi Gerrrrrrra. :) Super honored that you stopped by. I know, everyone has and will continue to reap many benefits from participating. You should throw your own contest! I know I'd be happy to enter.

Cheers,
Tia

YOU, girl, are MY kind of person. I hope every single bloggers reads what you have written here as it embodies the very essence of what the CommentLuv community is all about at the highest levels.

I do hope you that you will connect with Kristi and the many others like us in our blogs and in our private blog collaboration. (I'll send you the details on that.)

By like us I mean those who selflessly uplift everyone else. They spend more time supporting the efforts of others than they do on their own interests. Early leaders who choose to do this have a big challenge because few appreciate how much time it takes or that what we do for many does little to keep a roof over our heads.

We don't mind though because we know who our true Source is and love what we are called to do. I am SO glad you entered the contest so we have found you. We have BIG things happening - HUGE things and would like to share the benefits with you and anyone else who sincerely feels the way you wrote about in this post.

Gail! That was so uplifting! Thank you for your words. I am glad we connected, too, and am looking forward to further collaborating with you et al. It has dramatically changed the direction of BizChickBlogs for sure.

You rock!
