Q.

Tia, my dear, can you tell me pls, how do you integrate your blog with FB so that your blog posts are shown up on FB? Thanks 4 ya help Ms P!

A.

Yes, Mr. A. (Okay, I didn’t really say that). Integrating your blog with Facebook can happen in a number of ways. Since I knew exactly what Jo was talking about here, which is how to post your blog updates to your Facebook profile or page wall, I recommend RSS Graffiti.

You can access it on Facebook here (log into Facebook first, of course): RSS Graffiti (will open a new window so you can follow along). Disclaimer is that you’ll need just a little bit of experience with Facebook applications. But, if you just follow the instructions (like, clicking where it says to click and things like that) you should be good to go.

I’ll demonstrate how to add a feed. I’ve already installed RSS Graffiti, of course, but in this example, I’m going to add a feed for my other blog, Living Legacy.

How to Integrate Your Blog with Facebook

1. Once you have added the RSS Graffiti application, you’ll be brought to the main screen as shown below. This will show you what feeds are already installed, as well as your Profile or Pages. To install it on your page instead of your profile, highlight the page you want in the left column.

2. Click the green + Add Feed button to add information about your feed. Fill out what I’ve shown you below and leave the rest of the options at default, for best results.

3. Click Save. You’ll see the new feed is now active. You won’t see a new post appear until your feed has been updated again (the next time you post). Note that FeedBurner feeds typically don’t update as soon as you post. Either wait 30 minutes after you post, or go to FeedBurner and ping it.

4. This is the finished product. This is what it looks like when it begins posting your updates to your wall. It looks amazing, especially if you include an image in your post.

Thanks for sharing step by step procedure to integrate facebook account with blog. :)

I always tried to implement it , but ended up doing something wrong. thanks for the post

Wow! I wish I known about this app earlier! This is so cool I will definitely be using it now! Thanks for the awesome post! I used to post all my blog posts to Facebook by hand...

Thank you so much for the tutorial! Have bookmarked this post, and will share with others accordingly.

I'm a bit reluctant to promote my blog via my Facebook since so many of the people I'm linked to are very close friends who use Facebook for personal purposes. That may change, though. There is real value in getting a lot of followers, and the Facebook "like" button is one of the most powerful tools for promotion I've seen.

Hi Ashok, you just made a very important point about Facebook in particular. FB tends to be utilized in the main by "families and friends" and that is where a lot of internet marketers stumble when trying to use it to "sell their wares" so to speak.

After all, how are you going to encourage good ol' Aunt Henrietta to purchase a copy of the eBook "How to Make Money Online" when all Aunt Henrietta wants to do is chat with the family?

I have heard from those-in-the-know that its very wise set up a seperate and totally exclusive "fan" page (odd name!) for business purposes, and family and friends are not included in this. Thereby there is a clear distinction between business and pleasure.

Regards
Joseph

I have yet to integrate my blog posts into Facebook and RSS Grafiti seems like a convenient app to use. At least Tia made it sound easy with her explanations...

That's very nice, Paul. It's very easy.

Another choice I just recently became aware of is NetworkedBlogs. Not as easy as RSS Graffiti and you have to take an additional step to publish the feed to your wall, but it could work also.

Learned something new once again by reading one of your articles! “RSS Graffiti” looks like a great solution for integrating my RSS feed into my Facebook. Thanks for the info!

You're welcome! Thankfully Jo asked me, otherwise I wouldn't have known that people don't know!

hello,
thank you jo for posting up the question and tia for answering it.
i am still at the brink of learning as I have just started my blog not long ago. so much to learn =)
besides facebook, what are the other application would you reckon that bloggers usually follow on ? what i know is that twitter and facebook is ever so popular but how about the rest? stumble upon ? digg ?
or would you rather recommend that as blogger we stick only to a few?
i noticed tia has youtube, twitter and facebook. =)
thank you~!

Super post Tia! Thanks for featuring my web log - looks better in your pic up there than it does in real life, strangely...

Okay, you're poised for more questions, so you got one! And its from me again!

How do you get screen shots into your posts? You're obviously a master (or should that be "mistress"??) at it, and I will imagine that there a million and one of us who have no idea (me included). Spill all, dear Tia...

Cool! Great question! I use ScreenHunter which is free and works like a charm. There is one called Grab It or something like that. I'm sure there are others, but ScreenHunter has really been sufficient for me.

You can choose whether you want to capture part of the screen (like I do), or the whole desktop. You can choose whether you want to save it as a .gif or .jpg, too (there may be other options). It's GREAT for cutting/pasting images that you aren't able to save for some reason (um, wait that's a ninja technique. Forget that I said that). Always use only with permission. :)

Tia me dear, thanks for getting back to me re Screenhunter (grabbing screenshots)!

You should do a post about this topic too (if you are inclined, which I know you are cos I got a 6th sense about these intricacies and what-nots) - how many others are clueless just like I was up till you behoooooved me? U c?

I'm now behoven and proud of it!

I am very new to the biz. You make it sound so easy. I can not wait to try this.

This is great! A huge time saver for me. Can I get it to send the feed to my group page as well as my fan page?

Hey Kristin - No, unfortunately you can't do that. I'm not aware of one that integrates with groups.

I also happen to use RSS Graffiti for my Facebook page - it works pretty well and does a good job at pulling in my new posts to the Facebook page, giving Facebook "fans" a chance to follow my updates, if they don't want to use RSS feeds (or know how).

Hey Klaus - Good to see you here. I agree. I love RSS Graffiti. I hope it never goes away! :)
