If you are using a blog hosting company that doesn’t have a WordPress installation wizard, you can install WordPress yourself very easily.
If you don’t know anything about FTP, root folders, or database creation, stop here and [intlink id="71" type="page"]contact me[/intlink]. I will install WordPress for you at a very reasonable rate.
You will need:
- FTP access
- Ability to add a MySql database
- Access to the Internet
1. Download the latest version of WordPress here.
2. Create a MySql database on your server. Make sure you give the user all permissions.
3. Unzip the WordPress zip file.
4. Change the database information so it matches the database you just created.
5. Upload the entire contents inside the zip file (starting with the admin directory) to the location on your server. Hint: don’t create a directory called “WordPress.” If you have purchased a domain name and want that to be your main blog, you need to upload your files to the root (meaning, don’t create a subdomain to put it in).
Then, just type in your blog URL followed by /wp-admin and let WordPress guide you through the rest of the installation.
