How You Can Change the World Blogging

Guest post by Julius Kuhn-Regnier of AndBreak!

Blogging has become quite popular within the last few years for good reasons. A blog let’s you share your ideas with other people, people that are like you. It is ultimately a way to get heard. Not only is it that but also a means of getting other people to be heard. Through that you can actually change the world.

You probably think I am nuts. How does it make a difference when you give other people the chance to be heard? Let me show you some of my ideas here.

If you have read David Meerman Scott‘s book The New Rules of Marketing and PR then you will understand the kind of power bloggers have. It’s so easy to change the world but so many people simply don’t think about this.

One Step at a Time

You won’t change the world simply by creating a blog. Even if you have a blog where you write about helping others you will not radically change the world.

But here is what you can do. You can change the world one step at a time. That’s what all great people have done. You can change the world by helping someone out today. Even if it’s just a small contribution, ultimately it’s about contributing something to make the world a better place.

Help the People You Want to Help

As a blogger you have the power of choosing to write about whatever you want. There is no such thing as a limit. This of course gives you the ability to change the world. Change the world by writing about someone who needs help.

Recently I came across a blog from a young teenager who lives in Nigeria. His name is Onibalusi Bamidele and he is 16 years old. He has been building up his Internet presence for some time now. By talking about him you ultimately help him with achieving his goal:

I hope to change the blogging world by helping people achieve their dreams through my articles. My motivations are my goals and my top goal is to impact lives and that is why I can return when I am off-track.
Onibalusi

You have the possibility of telling your readers about other people. People who are in danger, people who need help, people who are successful.

The connections you have made through blogging can be so powerful. Especially well-known blogs have the power to expose flaws within companies or products, a privilege that only the media has had up to this point.

Have a Mission

If blogging is not enough for you to help people then pursue your mission. I recently came across The Give Project. The idea behind this site is to help people, who are in need or don’t have enough money, by using social networks such as Facebook.

The idea seems to work out great and there already have been numerous success stories.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

What do you think? Can you really change the world by blogging?

No doubt about it,
one world at a time!
My world first, then someone else
then another someone else
and someone else' someone else..
I appreciate so much the comment of Onibalusi,
he didn't undermine the power of rah rah.
Thanks for this post Julius,

I absolutely think bloggers can change the world. Lets say for a moment that all a blogger does is write about his/her bad day. It's possible for that article to inspire someone with an idea that could change the world in a big way. You may never know that you were responsible for that inspiration, but be sure of one thing, words have power, combine that with a public platform, and yes one blogger can easily change the world, either directly or indirectly.

If you do something, which noone has done before and if it is very helpful to all the mankind then I am sure you can change the world with your Work.

Yes, I do think that you can change the world. You never know where you will get that amazing inspiration. People who answer your blogs may not even know what they have said that will give you a great idea. You take the idea and make it grow. I really enjoyed your post. You really made me think.

Blogs are made for keeping in touch with other people and helping them solve their problems after all.

I think the beauty of blogging lies in the value it lends to your life experience, not necessarily to your professional expertise.

It blows my mind that people can make a living and make a difference totally online. It's amazing, but so hard for me to get my head around.

Inspiring post Julius. I know that Tia certainly tries to help others. She’s been a huge help to me. I’m hoping to help change the world on a smaller level by helping people to succeed online with tips on my blog. On a larger level, I use FB to promote causes that I believe in. We are all in this world together and bloggers absolutely can make a difference.

Yeah Tia is great. It's certainly easy to see that she is doing her best to help people.
Facebook is a graet way to promote things you believe in. I think I am actually going to follow The Give Blog on FB. Thanks Sherryl.

That was really one of the best articles I recently came upon! In most cases the ones creating blogs, solely for their own benefit, rarely achieve something. Reading an article can easily show , whether the blogger actually tries to give a helping hand to someone, or he just wants to squeeze in some quick cash. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Daniel. I am glad you enjoyed the article so much. Yeah you can easily see whether someone is trying to be helpful or not.

Great post Julius. I agree that bloggers truly do have an influence, and some have more power than they even recognize. Good bloggers develop a following, and they can educate their readers on issues that they find important. Anyone has the ability to make a change in the world...even the smallest things help.

Yeah the problem is that so few people realize it. Even by helping someone today are you changing the world, one step at a time. Thanks Josh.

Thanks for Excellent Post. I have mission too I m not search engine Optimizer SEO is my passion and my commitment to my work.
I m crazy about Internet marketing I never took money from my client with fake commitment i give my best to let my clients know that it is steady process building Google trust rank By doing Ethical Website promotion activities.

It's always good to give the best to try and satisfy your clients. It's not always easy but it's definitely worth trying.

Definitely, blogging a very powerful tool that many do not realize. This is why so many people get into it. Once you get your feet wet and get your influence up by writing quality content and networking with other bloggers, the sky is the limit.

One very powerful tool to help with this is your mailing list. The ability to send people a quick message about a cause through your list is probably the best method, as you have already (hopefully) gained favor with them.

We can all use our blogs to help out in some way.. Thanks for the post!

Thanks Wayne. An email list can be a powerful tool in order to grow your blog and to get the message out. I believe that these days too many people abuse mailing lists just in order to make a profit.
It should rather be used in order to create a relationship with your readers.

I guess, that's the most effective way of blogging. Having a purpose of why you have created a blog, seems favorable and I'm sure that you'll be able to catch a lot of readers for that. Being sensitive as to the needs of your prospect readers, you'll surely get what you are expecting. and that's achievement for you have served your purpose.

Goodluck,
Akia

Thank you Akia. I believe that trying to help people is one of the reasons why blogs were started initially. Of course they were also created to get heard.

I mean yes it's true that it's good to be able to catch readers. Yet it's much easier if you just blog about something you are passionate about, something you enjoy doing. That way you will get lots of readers too.

Thanks Akia. Well in order to be successful with your blogs you need to have a purpose. Otherwise blogging is useless.
Yeah I agree it's important to listen to your readers. That way you will be able to serve their needs a lot better.

Great article and thanks for mentioning The Give Project. We're actually launching in only a couple of hours!

I truly believe that technology is the greatest vehicle for social change and that social networks make it the most radically easy thing to do. Thank you for writing an article like this and sharing in our vision for a better world one connection at a time.

Give. Get. Give.

Glad to, Chase. You have built up a great site with a great idea. I love reading the stories of how someone was helped.

Yeah I actually never thought of it this way but it's true, technology can truly change the world radically. I am excited to see how your project will turn out. I am sure it will be a huge success.

I've seen a couple efforts to make charitable contributions more possible online. One lets you contribute everytime you shop online. I think its a great initiative!

Thank you Laura. Yeah that sounds like a great idea. I mean I know that I want to contribute something to the world. Yet, as I've mentioned above, I don't know what to contribute.

Wow! Really great post Julius,

You summed it all up!

Blogging can be used as a medium to change lives. Blogging should not only be for the purpose of making money.

Your blog can save someone from dying, imagine someone who is like killing him/herself, all the fellow needs is a word of comfort, that he.she can still make it and there is a lot worth living for - that is the power of a blog.

Thanks a lot for the great post,
-Onibalusi

Thank you Onibalusi. I mean you can make money through blogging (as many people have proven) the thing is that you will get there by ultimately helping people in some way or another.

Yeah I agree. You could practically save lives through your blog. I never really though of that. Thank you for your help.

Well, I know for sure that we can improve and change ourselves by blogging and changing ourselves is probably the most important thing we can do to change the world. We can focus on working with kindness and generosity towards other bloggers and our readers, and this will likely touch someone in a way that causes them to send out their own light.

Hi Jean,

I agree with you, changing ourselves is one of the most important things we can do. I wouldn't necessarily call it changing but rather growing. The more you grow the easier it will be for you to help people.
What you need to remember is that giving in itself isn't always as good as it seems to be. For example when I give someone something and expect something in return, then giving becomes a tool. But that's not what it is, it's a way of living.

This is an excellent article and one that really gets you thinking about how you can help with your own blog. It has given me a new perspective on how I will create blog posts in the future. You are right, we can all change the world in someway and using the power of the internet really is the way forward. Thanks for sharing your thoughgs.

Amanda

Thank you Amanda. For me articles or movies that get me thinking are the best. I recently watched Inception (maybe you know it) and it's also one of those movies with which once you are finished watching, you just keep on thinking about it.

The thing I actually wanted to show with this post is that you can actually change the world a single step at a time.

You Bet Julius

Blogging is nothing more than a dairy of how we feel and what beliefs we have, and ironically there are other people out there searching and looking for the things we talk about.

The key to changing the world one blog at a time, is to be consistence and honest...and people will follow

And Julius, I like your blog..

"TrafficColeman "Signing Off"

Thanks for this great post, Julius. I know that for me, I also have the goal to just help people. This isn't even my full-time job or what brings income. It's just something I like to do.

We all should, like Oni, make it so important that it stands out in our minds and when we get off track, we can remember what we're trying to accomplish.

Thank you Tia for giving me this opportunity. I guess in some way everyone wants to help other people and contribute to the world. But to be honest for me the hardest part of all of this is figuring out what to contribute.
And yes you are right. You should always keep in mind what you are actually trying to achieve. So once you get off track it will be easy to get back.
