They Said It Better – Best Comments from the Week

October 22, 2010 · 16 comments

Happy Friday – I guess for a large portion of the world it is already Saturday!

I decided this week to change up [intlink id="195" type="category"]Follow Friday[/intlink] just a little this week, and highlight some of the best comments received this week. Sometimes, our readers can say it better than we can! Here are some noteworthy comments from the week (last Friday included):

It’s vital to maximize efforts to have time available for blogging, your case is my case. As part time for me, is harder to do all the tasks and have a life offline too. How important is the #1 to have clear your goals and the # 2 accordingly.

I agree with time management. When blogging especially if you’re working at home, you can easily get distracted, so it’s really important to know your priorities and to have the discipline to work on those priorities. I also like number 3, make sure that your posts are really worth publishing.

Sometimes it’s just laziness and sometimes I feel like “damn should I really be out here tooting my own horn all the time?” Except if you don’t believe in your stuff enough to promote it, who will?

Great article and helpful tips. It’s nice to see that people still take the time to teach others by offering free advice and information. That’s what keeps ‘em coming back!

Hi Elge, nice to see you here guest posting, you’ve done a fantastic job. I always have this question about the H1 tags. Aren’t they for the title only? When is a good time to use them in a post? Every time this topic comes up I’m told that I should use H2 tags instead. Thanks for being patient with me on this one.

What excellent practical tips. That is what I love best about BCB…you can always count on quality content that you can apply to your blog. These tips serve as a great little checklist to use when preparing to write a post.

I agree. SEO is important on and off site. Putting keywords into your articles can improve traffic flow to your website. But you always have to remember that you have to keep visitors at your site once they are there. I really like your examples of rewording generic sentences to specific sentences containing valuable keywords.

Well, comments are related to warming up in the sense that many potential clients will ask questions concerning your recommend or service in the comments section rather than waiting on a emailed response. I have actually captured emails which led to clinching sales this way, but it depends on that particular person and their criteria for trust factor.

You sound alot like my husband. He thinks I wake up selling. I do not know if everyone does this or not but, I can not stop trying to make my life better. I understand what you are saying, too. It is a numbers game and we only want our numbers that we have to go through to be a sell smaller. It is much easier to catch fish in a small barrell than to get them from a large ocean.

Gera from SweetsFoodsBlog wrote,

As I’m in business I can tell you that you sell always with a good pitch, of course with a good product and in a appropriated time.

Bloggers are the same; the extra point is if they can generate confident and expertise the eventual sells will be more successful and smoother for the “client”.

I love the part about people being at different stages in the sales cycle. It’s essential that the content meets each person at their stage and their entry point to the blog may be at a previous post and not your latest material.

Superb innovation Tia. I have not seen this before on other blogs and I am glad you introduced it first here. Its a wonderful way to drive more quality comments to your blog. Also a good weekly gift to your blog commentators.

Isn’t that an interesting idea? I’ve never thought about highlighting comments in such a fashion; not sure I will do it, but it’s still a fascinating idea.

3 Heather October 25, 2010 at 12:28 pm

It is so nice of your to share what others have to say as well. I try to read alot of the post before I make my comment because there are alot of people who have been doing this longer than I have and I learn alot from them, too. I am always trying to keep my eyes and ears open so that I can maximize my sites. I hope that people read your site and most of the comments as well because if they do, we will all be able to learn from each other. After all, there really are no written rules about how the internet works.

Hi Tia:

I have been reading your blog posts for a while, but did not place a comment yet. Today I was reading some comments and decided to place a comment here.
I like how you have so much knowledge about blogging. I am knowledge seeker by nature. After the latest change by Google, I worry using keywords because key word competing numbers have changed now. Before I used to remember the keywords and its search volumes.

Tia thank you for providing valuable information you have been providing to our blogging community.

All the best

Hi Tia,

Its a great way of reviewing the week with comments from readers. Feels nice when you know the blogger is paying a proper attention to what we write. This would certainly inspire to comment more.

That’s so funny because I didn’t even think of that when putting this together. I just wanted to change up Follow Friday!

Hi Tia
What a good idea. I love reading all the comments on a post. Usually learn heaps from the comments too and introduces me to other bloggers whose site I may visit. Thanks.

Same here. I think the post is only 50% of the conversation and comments are the other 50%.
