The Four Absolute Best Ways to Thank Blog Readers

November 25, 2010 · 34 comments

In February, when BizChickBlogs launched, I certainly did not imagine that I would get to know the people that I have, or that I would learn so much, or be able to teach so much.

I’m grateful for everyone who reads the blog, passes it on, or continues to involve me in their endeavors and goals. I am honored. Even if you’re not in the U.S. or not celebrating Thanksgiving, I hope you take some time today to reflect on what you’re grateful for and spend some quality time with people you love.

Today, I’m hanging out watching the Macy’s Day Parade (on TV) with my son Aidan and later eating lunch/dinner with friends and my mom.

Do something fun!

Happy Thanksgiving.

The 4 Absolute Best Ways to Thank Blog Readers

1. Continue to Publish Great Stuff

The best way you can thank readers for their support is to work hard at publishing useful, quality content. Keeping your own priorities in mind, of course, you should try your best to support, entertain, and even promote your readers with your content.

2. Pass It On

I do my best to pass on content that people ask me to. Setting up Twitter feeds to share your favorite blogs continually, or getting active on Twitter and Facebook and sharing content there is always appreciated.

3. Choose Advertisers/Sponsors Wisely

When you promote a product on your blog, you are essentially giving it your 100% This Is OK With Me stamp. Be mindful of that when you choose sponsors, or write a review. Make sure it’s something that you really believe is the best thing for your readers. You should promote things that will help them reach their goals and not just promote things for money. I always try out what I promote, and 5 of the 6 ad blocks in my sidebar are all used on this blog specifically (the 5th is the link to donate to Wikipedia, which you should do)!

4. Share a Hilarious Thanksgiving Video

The funniest part is the end so you gotta watch the whole 3 1/2 minutes. :) If you’re outside of the US, you won’t be able to watch the Hulu video below, so you can check it out on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq1zQHSJhO4 (the Hulu video is of much better quality since it’s a clip from NBC itself).

What are other ways you can thank readers?

Enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday and weekend!

Being grateful to your readers is really good. You can do it too by replying on their comments right? Well, as for me I am a reader too and when someone reply on my comments it is just good to feeling. Anyway, thank Tia!

You forgot to mention CommentLuv there Tia
I think giving a doFollow backlink for yours readers is one of the best rewards they could get for reading and actually commenting on your post :)
Great post though, and happy thanksgiving (although a bit late I know :$)

Yeah visitors are key and if they can find time to read your blog you need to be thankful to them. The best way according to me is point 1 i.e continue “Publishing great content”

Hi Tia,

Knowing how to thank your readers is really essential if you want to make them come back to your blog. Taking the time to check their website and maybe leave a comment if you like the content is a great way to show appreciation for example. Even replying to their comments is a sure sign that you do care about them.

Hi Daniel – This is one of the things that makes blogging for business more difficult than people would like to believe. It’s like publishing but much harder because the relationship between blogger and reader is very delicate.

You are great at walking the talk so I can see you going really far in what you’re doing. I have to balance this with building another business and don’t have as much time to do the things for readers that I would really like to do.

Better late than never and so Happy Thanksgiving to you too. We don’t celebrate this in Brazil but I am certainly grateful to all the supportive and awesome community out there as well as my whole family.

The advices you give to thank bloggers are all wonderful and I call special attention to number 3. That stamp is indeed important and is one of the ways to earn your visitors trust.

12 JohnK November 27, 2010 at 10:11 am

I think your point #1 is the most important. By publishing great stuff you not only make your readers want to come back, but you contribute to the quality of blogs as a whole.

Well I suppose I should actually thank people for comments, instead of ruthlessly punishing people for *not* commenting. I don’t know. It will be a massive paradigm shift for me but I’m open to change.

That video was too funny, but as a side complaint, I HATE the 15-30 second ads that many video sites now force you to endure before the video even starts.

It’s not enough to take up the bottom quarter of the screen with an overlay that you almost always accidently click when you’re trying to get rid of it.

Some of these sites even roll right into another ad at the end of the video just to keep you on your toes.

And now, to round out my complaining, I REBUKE and CONDEMN Hulu for blocking my beloved PS3 and then hitting us up for their pay service.

**Complaining over** Thanks for another great post, Tia!

19 Alex@Jocuri November 26, 2010 at 9:54 am

Happy Thanksgivings to you too, Tia!

I think you thank us enough by posting great content ;)

20 James Fulton@Dog arthritis November 25, 2010 at 11:44 pm

Tia , Its some amazing ideas over there, i like the point “Continue to Publish Great Stuff”, Rather than dumping our blog with daily contents its wise to go for a well researched content and updating weekly once or twice.

This thanksgiving may your home be filled with the Lord loving presence.

James

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. After putting my 9 and 15 year old to bed I need a funny video! Thank you.

22 Tia Peterson November 26, 2010 at 10:00 am

LOL After putting my nearly 3 year old to bed, I need about a good laugh, too. :)

I know they say I’ll think different later, but honestly I am ready for toddlerhood to be over!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, too, and enjoy your weekend!

Hi Tia:

Happy Thanksgiving to you. You will get my heart felt message in my blog post
“My Thanksgiving Prayer As A Blog Writer” Every one for the network likes it a lot, as it is meant for you all and I am included in that too. I am really thankful to the blogging network that I do not feel alone. I wrote this prayer when I was getting ready for Thanksgiving, and reading the comments and blog posts in between. I realized that Internet and blog is becoming half of my life. That is where I felt that I am thankful to have a blogging community and readers.

You current post is also expressing four ways to express Thanks to blog readers. All the points are good and use-able.

Talk again

Hi Tia

Hope your Thanksgiving is going well. As I am in Australia it’s blogging as usual here! From all the blog posts I’m seeing about Thanksgiving I get it is a big day in the US. May it be a blessed day for you and your family.

Happy Thanksgiving girl! Hug and kiss your Mom one extra time for me because I sure am missing my Mom this year.

Cheers!

26 Tia Peterson November 25, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Ha! :) Yeah if it’s something funny, I’d definitely watch it.

I’m sorry you’re missing your mom this year and I hope you are having a great Thanksgiving even though she’s not around. Thanks for being so encouraging and friendly, Ileane!

27 Sarah Arrow November 25, 2010 at 10:06 am

Happy Thanksgiving Tia, as I have said before I really enjoy reading and learning from your thoughts here.

Can’t watch the video though, it only streams in the US.

28 Tia Peterson November 25, 2010 at 10:14 am

Oh Sarah that’s too bad! I didn’t realize that. I wonder if it’s like that on Hulu itself?

I found the same video on YouTube. Maybe you can watch this! It’s not as good quality.
