Meet the Editors of BizChickBlogs 2011

December 19, 2010

in News

I’m excited to talk about the upcoming re-launch of bizchickblogs.com and the contributing editors who are helping to make it happen.

The 2011 bizchickblogs.com will have a new logo (below), new site layout, and a whole new approach. It’s completely pro-chick (but I think the guys will appreciate some of the content, too) and has something for all of the parts of our lives, from our businesses to our families.

Additionally, we will syndicate some content that fits in with the columns/departments. We’re already working with bloggers in food, travel, and technology, and we’re looking for style bloggers and more food, travel, relationships and family, and some social media bloggers who would like to contribute content to the site. These blogs will be part of the bizchickblogs.com blog network and will get listed site wide in the footer, along with some other recognition throughout the site. Let me know if you’re interested in that.

Marlee Ward / Business Editor

Marlee Ward

Chic and ultra-savvy, Marlee is going to head the Business column for bizchickblogs.com. I chose Marlee because of her clear passion for moving women in business forward, and the major underlying theme of the new site is moving women forward. Marlee is definitely the go-to girl for launching a new business right, but she’ll also talk about business trends in general, marketing, and managing solid careers. If you would like to contribute a post to the upcoming business column, please send a note to Marlee.

Libby Fisher / Technology Editor

Libby Fisher

This just wouldn’t be bizchickblogs.com without a great technology column. Libby is young, skilled, and can work her way around a website! Libby is a website developer by trade, and I chose her because she’s the perfect picture of women making moves into traditionally male-dominated industries. I connected with Libby on a personal level since we both are developers. Look to Libby for reviews, tutorials, and great articles on working with technology as a woman in business. If you’d like to contribute a post or article to the technology section (which will also cover blogging and social media), drop Libby a line.

Evelyn Parham / Health Editor

You’ve probably seen Evelyn around, as she’s a prolific guest blogger and has been a contributing blogger to several great blogs. She is a health writer and focuses on healthy eating choices. Evelyn possesses great connection skills and will bring a lot of vibrancy and life to the health section. I personally chose Evelyn because part of moving women forward is improving our lives wholistically. It doesn’t matter if we become great career women and then drop dead of a heart attack at 38, does it? The health section is about taking care of ourselves physically, which will support and sustain any other effort we make in life. If you have a great idea for a health article or would like to submit one yourself, contact Evelyn.

Christina Linnell /Relationships and Family Editor

What would a digital magazine for smart women be without a relationships and family section? Christina is a witty freelance writer, mom, wife, and certainly has a handle on the blog thing! Not only that, but she’s great at connecting with other bloggers. The relationships and family column at bizchickblogs.com is a bit of the softer, more personal side, and will cover topics that appeal to both single and married women alike. If you’d like to submit ideas or articles that fit in the relationships and family column, please contact Christina.

Add Your Blog

While those are our main columns, I will be editing the variety column which will feature blogs and articles in the food, style, and travel subjects, as well as much more. If you have a blog that fits in any of the four main columns above, or would fit in with the variety column, send me your name, the name of your blog and a short description, your blog’s URL, and your RSS feed URL.

What About Blogging Tips?

Blogging will still be covered, but at a much higher level, in the technology column. If you’ve contributed or commented here, your posts and comments will stay put, links intact! We’re just adding new categories and laying out the site in a much different way. If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to ask.

Hi Tia,
What an exciting new year it will be here! Looking forward to the new bizchickblogs network.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous new year

Tia Peterson December 28, 2010 at 9:17 am

Thanks, Kathy! I’m hoping you’ll like the Food section and want to contribute or add your feed. :)

Cheers,
Tia

Looking forward to the redesign and increased energy from such an impressive team! Not only has the “glass ceiling” broken, but the “ether” is turning pink as women -of all ages- realize that business and technology belong to them also [no more math and science is just for boys nonsense]; and that we can talk about SEO intricacies on the one hand and the recipe for a powerhouse pork roast on the other. I’m wondering, where in the new bizchickblogs can an artist-preneur fit in?

Tia Peterson December 22, 2010 at 11:07 am

Hey Linda,

I think we could add a Culture sub-department and that could cover arts and lifestyle. Depending on the artist-preneur’s blog and the focus of the content, though, she could fit into any of our existing departments, too!

Great comment. I’m definitely going to add a Culture section. Can I add your blog’s RSS feed? :)

Thanks!
Tia

Hey Tia,

That’s definitely a great team there! Never new that so many people were actually behind the blog. Really interesting! Although I’m not much of a chick, I have to say that the new logo looks pretty good. The color change is certainly for the better. Looking forward to the coming changes! :)

Tia Peterson December 20, 2010 at 11:30 am

Ha! Glad you like the color change.

Prior to this change, it was just me behind the blog. So you were right. :)

Natalie@ Turkish Travel December 19, 2010 at 10:46 pm

Alex@Jocuri December 19, 2010 at 12:25 pm

Hi Tia,
I can see you are really want to succeed with this blog. You gather a, in my opinion, great team that will really transform this blog.

I’ve seen the theme preview before reading this post and I was thinking that it looks more professional, even magazine like, now I see that it was intended to look that way.

Not much to say, except Good luck to you all and can’t wait to read all your articles.

Tia Peterson December 20, 2010 at 11:34 am

Hey Alex,

Yep, it’s a news/magazine theme which works really well for several primary categories and even more sub-categories. It will fit the content well. Thanks for the well wishes!

Cheers!
Tia

John@Hypertransitory.com December 19, 2010 at 10:27 am

This is a very exciting time, ladies. Even as a guy :) I’m looking forward to what 2011 is bringing for this site and all of its contributors.

I always recommend this site to women who are trying to accomplish their goals (even if it’s not *necessarily* online) and I’m sure I’ll be doing that a lot more in the future.

All the best!

-JG

Tia Peterson December 20, 2010 at 11:35 am

Thanks, John. I’m excited, too, and it’s going to be a great site for women in all areas. Hopefully you can say you “knew us when…” LOL At least that’s what I’m hoping for!

Libby Fisher December 19, 2010 at 9:52 am

Tia Peterson December 20, 2010 at 11:37 am

Hi Evelyn,

Exactly – it will be a success and I’m grateful for your decision to join!

Sarah Arrow December 19, 2010 at 9:02 am

Woo Hoo, what a team you have Tia – congratulations.

I am really excited about the new turning you are taking with Biz Chick Blogs and am looking forward to reading more. Online magazines are the way forward :)

Tia Peterson December 19, 2010 at 9:09 am

Hi Sarah,

I agree; I think online magazines are the way forward, too – at least for us! And I’m excited to put up your guest post tomorrow. I’m honored that you took the time to do that. It’s much appreciated!

Sarah Arrow December 19, 2010 at 9:18 am

You are most welcome, I am excited at being a guest biz chick :) I shall look out for the post tomorrow and promote it. Enjoy the rest of the weekend :)

Patricia@lavenderuses December 19, 2010 at 8:46 am

Hi Tia

How exciting is that?! I really look forward to the new look blog. Have really enjoyed visiting regularly and learning heaps from the posts you publish.

With so many quality bloggers contributing in 2011, I’m sure I am going to be learning heaps more that will add to my becoming a better blogger too. Plenty of variety and covering all different aspects so I’m going to be looking forward to what you will have over here in the new year.

Patricia Perth Australia

Tia Peterson December 19, 2010 at 8:54 am

Thanks, Patricia. It’s very exciting. This is really going to be a “blogzine,” with the feel of a traditional magazine, just online. It’s really going to be quite different. Think Forbes Woman meets Cosmopolitan meets Technorati meets Mashable.

It will be very interesting to see how the residual traffic, especially search engine traffic and traffic from referring sites, impacts the demographic. The new site is clearly designed with women in mind. I wonder how the guys will feel about that!?

Then again, having the name ‘biz chick blogs’ hasn’t really turned the guys off, so we’ll see!

Cheers,
Tia

DiTesco December 19, 2010 at 2:54 pm

I’m a guy and I wanted you to know that I feel very good about it. Actually very excited to see how the new “blogzone” will look like :) As for your variety columns, does Home Based Business, qualify? If it does maybe I shhot you an email. Let me know and before I forget, happy holidays to you, everyone in your team, your readers and love ones.

Tia Peterson December 19, 2010 at 3:52 pm

DiTesco, home based business would definitely fit in the business column. So definitely contact me with your info! Thanks for the holiday wishes and happy holidays to you, too!

Hesham December 19, 2010 at 4:35 pm

I second DiTesco on that, your blog name never turned me off :)

I congratulate you for the great step, this is so promising Tia, great blogging team, and for sure brilliant future

To your success at 2011
