3 Ways to Revitalize your Blog this Spring

freshen up your blog

Whether it was the long winter, the lack of sunlight and being stuck indoors, there are many things we can blame our lack of inspiration on and writer’s block happens to the best of us. And it’s normal. As a business owner you are juggling many tasks and it’s easy to put off your blog, especially when you are not feeling inspired.

With spring upon us, it’s the perfect time to freshen up and inject new life into your blog. And SHAKE off those winter blues!

Make a small change, make a big change..do something! It will feel refreshing and give you a new perspective. (I added a new header to my blog).

3 ways to Find Inspiration for your Blog

1-Step outside of your niche: Read blogs totally unrelated to your industry. See what others are talking about and think of how you can relate this to your blog.

2-Use your Analytics tool
(you do have one, right!) and see how people are finding your blog. Use these keywords as inspiration for new topics (assuming they are relevant…)

3-Freshen up an old post with new information: Have you been blogging for a while? Revisit an older post and update it with new stats, pictures or related information.

Bonus:

4-Visit your local magazine stand. Step back and take a look at the magazines. What stands out and catches your attention? Magazines can be a good source of headline information. I almost titled this post ’476 ways to improve your blog’  which was inspired by a fashion magazine (replace blog with ‘look’) but hesitated since I wanted to publish this sooner than later ;)

What techniques do you use to tackle writer’s block? How will you be revitalizing your posts?

This was very helpful and easy...
Well done. I certainly appreciate your taking the time to time.
How i can put a picture in this website at the very front.

I love the bonus idea. It's especially good for blogs like this one. I get inspiration from real magazines all the time.

Thanks for the tips. I recently introduced a spring color story to my blog. It keeps me going back often because it seems seasonal.

I think using a new layout and maybe changing the color scheme intro some greener might make your blog seem ready for the upcoming spring.

Also, I like your ideas of totally revamping it, by even getting new post ideas from other niches, that will surely be noticed by your readers.

Funky spring is back, can't wait for my trip to the seaside :D

Spring is a great time to freshen things up..nothing like a seaside trip to get some inspiration! Enjoy :)

It's that 3rd one that I need to do. Even though my blog isn't even 6 months old yet, I'm finding info. that I want to add to prior post. Thanks for the reminder.

You're welcome, Glynis! I find it's also a good way for you readers to read some of your older content that they may have missed the first time around.

I too will use analytics to figure out what people are interested in. Very enlightening!

It also helps to see which posts readers are spending the most time on since not everyone leaves a comment.
Thanks!

HI Sandy,

I simply take a break from blogging. Not too long, but mentally, I unplug.

I like that you mention analytics. I don't pay much attention, but I will start. ;)

Hi Evelyn,
Agree, taking a break and stepping back also gives new perspective and allows the creative juices to flow again.
