New Children’s Book for the Summer!

in Culture, Reviews

Not too long ago, the author of the book below, John Flower (also a contributor here at bizchickblogs) sent me his brand new children’s book, Africa Sure Is a Wonderful Place, for review.

Now, I want to clarify that it was not I who reviewed the book, but really, it was my 3 year old son. After all, the book was written for him, not me.

So we sat down at the computer (we have a digital copy) and read it together. My son was beside himself. He absolutely loved the illustrations. The book is short, so after the first read-through, he wanted me to read it again. And then again. And then another time.

The poetry is beautiful and rhythmic, and will appeal to young children as well as older kids who are new readers.

The book gets 5 stars from my son and another 5 stars from me. I know that if we had the physical copy to read, he would be asking for it nightly, and in fact, a couple of weeks after reading the book, it must have come to his mind again. He pointed to my computer and asked for the “jungle book,” and I knew exactly what he was referring to!

Parents, get this book. Help teach your children about new places. The older ones will get the message, and the younger ones, like my son, will be captivated by the drawings.

Hope your kids like it as much as mine did!

It’s hard to come across a new children’s book that is any good these days so thanks for the tip. My first daughter still loves a good story and maybe the one on the way will like this book too.

@Mywritingworld Hi Fran. What do you mean? I don’t think there are points associated with comments, but looks like there is a point system with LiveFyre! But I see that you have 8, not 0!

Thanks for your comments, both!

My comment was really simple, you are getting awesome comments here, congrats. That is why I got only zero points. too bad. Any ways do the best, my best wishes always with you and you know it too.

@Tia Peterson Yeah don’t forget to send Oprah and Dr. Phil an email about the book. Perhaps CC Michelle Obama too. ;-)

@johnflower You’re welcome! I’ll try to find more places to talk about it!

Sheesh, this is humbling. Thanks so much for the kind words Tia. Didn’t expect anyone to really think much of it, except my mom (who would have liked it even if it were blank pages).

Too kind of you to write about it on BCB.
