How to add a URL to your LiveFyre profile

Adding a URL to your LiveFyre profile is simple, and you’ll want to do this to take advantage of showing up in the recent comments widget in the sidebar!

It can be done in 3 steps, and takes less time to do than it will take you to read this post. My suggestion is to do it now and be done with it!

How to add a URL to your LiveFyre Profile

First, make sure you are signing in with LiveFyre and not the other methods. This means you will need to create an account. It takes just a few minutes and is really worth it. More and more sites are using LiveFyre, so you might as well get yourself an account and take advantage of the features.

The image below shows what happens when you are trying to leave a comment for the first time on bizchickblogs.com. It recognizes that you are signed into Twitter (or perhaps another service) but still asks you if you want to sign into livefyre or create a new account.

1. Create Your Account from bizchickblogs.com (or whatever LiveFyre blog you are on)

Click “Post comment as” and from there, select “Create a New Account.”

If, by chance, you do not get this pop-up or if you have been leaving comments here signed in via Twitter or another service, to get to the place where you can sign up for LiveFyre, click on the fire indicator in the little box that displays when you hover over the shadowy, scary looking figure at the top of the comment box.

2. Add your account details in the Create an Account window.

Fill in the details. Note, there is a place to add your website right there, however, you need to do the next step because that website information is not automatically added to your profile (yet).

3. Add your URL to your LiveFyre profile from LiveFyre.com.

Next, go to www.livefyre.com in a new tab or browser window. You should already be logged in, but if not, just log in. Go to Settings.

From there, Account Info will be displayed. Scroll down until you see “Your other sites” and add your URL there. Only the first is going to be linked to your username. Click Save.

All done!

Now, when you leave a comment on a LiveFyre blog using your LiveFyre account, your username will be linked to your website and this will work with the recent comments widgets.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the info. I just logged into my livefyre account and noticed that I didn’t set the URL to my blog. All fixed now (hopefully).

@israel.kendall Hey Israel – Awesome! Now you know. :) Might as well subscribe to bizchickblogs since I publish LiveFyre posts from time to time… (hint hint)

Thanks, I use LiveFyre on my site but didn’t know about this update!

@janesheeba Hi Jane – Yes, you’re correct. The first URL will be the one that gets linked!

Great I just added mine. Got one question though – If I add two sites (in “other sites of mine”) then which one will be linked to? The first one?

Anyway thanks @Tia Peterson for the nice reminder!

@LisaAndrews I really appreciate that! Looking forward to connecting more.

Hi there Tina,

Just got your email as reply to my first two comments. Thanks for your reply. Now, I am sure I am doing this right.

@bodynsoil Ah, okay! Well if you haven’t found wpbeginner.com, I LOVE that site. So much good info. I use it all the time.

@Tia Peterson No I have a self hosted WP site since January of this year, I was on blogger when I first started blogging way back in 2008/2009 and only dabbled in it.

Tia Peterson July 15, 2011 at 12:26 pm

@bodynsoil I’m glad that you figured it out! Now you can go to other livefyre sites – such as wpbeginner.com and you’ll be logged in there, too, and can easily leave a comment. Then again, I think you’re on blogger, right? And not WP?

Thank you for posting this, I signed up for an account the other day and didn’t see where you could add your information plus they didn’t ask me for a password, I need to reset the automatic one they set up for me.
