A few weeks ago, I got to try out a new, fun, online educational community called Kabongo. Kabongo offers games that children can play on the computer to get them thinking and reading.
I sat my 3 1/2 year old down with me and we got to playing right away. Although he was a bit young for some of the challenges, he did really well at the game where he had to tell me whether the animals on the conveyor belt were big or small. There were several games we could play together, where I controlled the computer and he just told me what to do. If your children are older or more used to using a computer, they should be able to control the games very well.
He also really liked the skate park idea (my son is obsessed with all things skateboarding). When your kids complete a game, they’ll get a prize or reward of some sort, and often times, it is a “piece” of a skate park that they get to put together and build. He enjoyed that part of Kabongo a lot. He was also glued to the computer due to the amazing graphics.
Although accolades and statistics are great, I try to judge great kids products based on my son’s reactions, and he really liked Kabongo. It took him several days to stop asking for it, in fact. Again, he was a little young and under-developed to benefit from some of the games that required better use of the computer or reading skills, but I can see us working it into a weekly schedule; it’s certainly better than sitting and watching the Disney Channel all day long.
Try Kabongo for yourself!
The only way you will get to see what I’m talking about is if you get over to Kabongo.com and try it yourself with your kids (or if they are old enough, just give them the computer to have at it). You can register and play a few games totally free, but the company has given bizchickblogs.com readers a coupon for a free level with 3 additional games – a $4.95 value. So now your kids will have even more games to play. Definitely use the coupon and try out all of the games; you never know which ones your kids will like best.
See the coupon below. Enter LEARN to unlock the free level and games!

Have fun!
This sounds like a great site to have my 5 year old bookmark, recently I got into playing Wizards101 with my 8 year old which has a lot of reading in it and is really fun because our characters can join together and help each other and such.
@Mywritingworld Hi Fran! I am enjoying this time! My son is so imaginative. He tells stories for ten, fifteen minutes sometimes about all sorts of crazy things. I love his mind. I am embracing it!
Tia, Mother hood adds lots of quality tips and tricks to bring the best in children and specially your own as this is the best spiritual mental and heart connection from person to person. So enjoy it while you can, once kids are adults, mothers life takes nother turn. She learns to listen with patience and then communicates calmly with your own child. This is another training, when new times and kids over rule.
