1. Theme/Framework

The current theme for bizchickblogs.com is a custom version of the News theme by Studiopress. It is built on the Genesis Framework. You need BOTH the Genesis Framework + the News Child Theme to make it work. It’s a great deal, too, so don’t pass it up.

2. Hosting

Hands down, Hostgator is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be when it comes to hosting. I highly recommend Hostgator to anyone – whether you have one website or one thousand.

3. SEO

While we do not currently use Scribe SEO on bizchickblogs.com, we did for a time. Scribe SEO is amazing in that it really teaches you HOW to optimize your posts and pages, such that you may be like us and only need it for a certain amount of time. It’s truly priceless.

4. Content

I absolutely LOVE 31 Days to Building a Better Blog and will recommend it always. Now, there is yet another book by Darren Rowse called ProBloggers Guide to Blogging for Your Business, which you should get if you plan to use blogging as a business marketing tool.

5. Money

The primary tool used to make money here is with the Shareasale affiliate program. But we also use LinkWorth, Pay Per Post & SocialSpark, Google Adsense, BuySellAds, Sponsored Tweets, and from time-to-time, Commission Junction. We are also part of the PepperJam Network and e-junkie. It really just depends on where the programs we want to promote have their affiliate network set up.

Pulling it all together

We also use a number of free and premium plugins – over 50 – to make this blog work like it does. In addition, we use Amazon S3 Cloudfront AND CloudFlare to make this blog load a little more quickly.
